I love the old black and white photographs of the Blitz and this scene is of the last night raid of 1940 and one of the heaviest night raids. Unfortunately, the Thames was at its lowest tide, so the lack of water meant the fires were burning out of control. My painting shows the pioneer cores early morning clear up of the blitz.
