History of the museum

After digging the Half Moon Spitfire, I really got the bug and it just went on from there. The collection has just got bigger and bigger, it all started with a few pieces stored at the top of my garden, then stored in friends sheds and garages. Over the years I have tried to organise a place to house my growing collection from local councils, on airfields and so on, sadly this didn't happen. So in the end I decided to build a museum in my own back garden, this I started in the late summer of 1989 and believe me, I had to beg borrow and steal to get the project built. It took me about three years to get the initial museum built. It was not until I came to setting up all of my collection that I realised it was not big enough! So I had to make it even bigger and that is what you can see here today. This all started from Spitfire P7539.
