This artifact is a cog from the supercharger of Spitfire R4170, flown by FL Bobby Oxspring, 66 Squadron, Gravensend. On the 25th October 1940, Bobby Oxspring engaged ME109's in the Maidstone area, with his aircraft damaged and unflyable, he bailed out over Langton Green near Tunbridge Wells. I recovered these items in November 1974 and contacted Bobby Oxspring, who later sent me information about the incident, which you can read in detail in the Tribute to the Few section. Each item will be sold with a copy of Bobby Oxsprings Accident Report.
